1.0            CALL TO ORDER

-  meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m.

2.0            ATTENDANCE/ESTABLISHMENT OF QUORUM

-          Tammy Schatull did attendance

-          over 50% (enough for a quorum)

3.0   APPROVAL OF MINUTES

-          minutes of November 5, 2006 were reviewed

4.0   FINANCIAL REPORT – Patrick Der

-          reviewed budget (based on 35 teams) and income statement (see attached)

5.0   EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT - Tammy Schatull

-          footwear in gym (need to be diligent with the kids)

-          if rules are not followed we will lose gym times

-          sportsmanlike conduct (need to be role models for our youth)

-          need to keep a good working relationship with EYBA

-          any concerns regarding this issue need to be brought to Executive Director’s attention at swarmbasketball@hotmail.com

-          the schedules for Round 2 are up and posted

-          Panda and Bears tickets have been distributed to all coaches

-          all players should wear their jerseys

-          mini boys will play at half time (good exposure for Swarm)

-          coaches’ clinic is upcoming (Nov. 22 – JD Braaco)

-          all coaches are encouraged to attend

-          anyone interested should email Tammy and a cheque wil be issued to cover the cost

-          Game of the Week is up and running on website

-          Swarm clothing sale will be held Nov. 23 and Nov. 27 at Gold Bar Community Hall

-          information is on the website including prices

-          encourage coaches to inform their teams of the sale

-          all coaches will  receive golf shirts as a thank you from SEBA

-          Public Consultation (Recreation and Sports Field Plans) is upcoming

-          The City of Edmonton is holding these to assist in the development of recreation facility and sports field plans for northeast, southeast and west Edmonton

-          our voices need to be heard (we need these facilities)

-          need to be advocates for our kids

-          southeast meeting will be held Nov. 21 (TD Baker) and Nov. 29 (St. Theresa church hall) from 7 – 9 p.m.

6.0            DIRECTOR’S REPORTS

SE Zone Director – Akil Pessoa

o        no problems

o        make sure to call if there are concerns

o        would like some feedback

A Division Director – Wayne Anderson

o        4 teams up and running

o        next year there will be no tryouts or evaluations until after registration

o        there will be a midget tournament over Christmas

o        would like to get in additional tournaments

Mini Director – Rick Marcinuik

o        call if there are any concerns

Bantam Director – Akil Pessoa

o        call with concerns

Midget Director – Patti Warshawski

o        nothing negative to date

o        have good coaches and good kids

Juvenile Director – Nicole Wadson

o         (3 girls/1 boys) 4 teams 

o        call with concerns

Fundraising Director – Tom Griffin

o        a number of initiatives

o        pub nite  (need to find a venue)

o        Woodvale Hall is not available

o        definitely looking at Jan. or Feb.

o        Tammy Schatull will organize (anyone interested in helping should email)

o        in order to keep costs down have at Gold Bar Hall (beer, wine and silent auction)

o        this function needs to more of a social event than a money maker (an opportunity for parents to meet coaches etc. on a more personal level)

o        a letter has been generated (corporate sponsorships)

o        hard copies are available

o        sponsorships will be posted on website

8.0            ELECTION OF EXECUTIVE POSITIONS

Secretary

Motion                   Wayne Anderson nominated Allyson Connelly as Secretary

            President

-          if no one steps forward Paul is willing to stay on as president for the remainder of the season

-          this should be a smooth transition (will have guidance from Executive Director and past-president)

-          need to go back to teams and parents informing them this position must be filled before next season starts

Nomination Tabled

9.0            OTHER

-          Akil Pessoa attended last EYBA board meeting

-          in the process of looking for volunteers to be tournament chairperson (EYBA will no longer be responsible)

-          needs to come from community and parents

-          tournament will run same weekend as provincials (end of March)

-          anyone needing additional information can contact Akil
